Dear Subscriber First Name,

This January is an exciting and busy month for Senior Tennis players both in Florida and California. Time to get out of the cold weather, play tennis, and have some fun. Once you try it, you’ll be hooked and want to come back every year. So here we go; for Southwest Florida in Naples there are three great tournaments as below:

  1. NSMTA National Cat III Doubles Championship at Sanchez/Casals Academy – January 7 to 11th

    • This is a good warmup for the next two events with lots of play and good competition. If you like doubles, you’ll like this tourney.

    • Entry Deadline – Friday, December 29th – ID#150002720

  2. WCT SSGP Tournament at World Tennis Club– Jan 13 to 18th

    • This is first leg of the 8-week Super Senior Gran Prix which has both singles and doubles. It is one of the best run and nicest events of the circuit. There is always a tough field of those getting ready for the Super Cat II the next week.

    • Entry Deadline – Jan 3rd, Friday – ID#150010120

  3. West Coast Super Cat II at Sanchez/Casals Academy – January 19 to 26th

    • This is one of the largest and toughest Super Cat II’s in the US. It is played at beautiful 34 court Naples Bath Club site of the S/C Academy and a full test for serious tennis players.

    • Entry Deadline – Thursday, Jan 9th- ID#150003720

To enter, use the NSMTA website if you are a member, or go to tennislink.usta.com and enter the tournament ID#. Join the fun and come to sunny Florida for some great tennis.

On the West Coast of the US, in lovely Palm Springs, California, there are several great events as well. The weather is also nice, and competition is tough. Below are a couple of the best events:

  1. 27th Annual USTA Plaza Senior Tournament – January 6 to 12th

    • This is first of three events leading up to the Wilson World Super Cat II. It features men’s singles & doubles and combined age mixed doubles.

    • Entry deadline – December 29th – ID#65171052

  2. Wilson World Tennis Classic (Super Cat II) – January 18 to 26th

    • This year the largest tournament in the US is moving to a beautiful new site, the Shadow Mountain Resort & Club. Last year the event attracted almost 700 players from around the US and is a world-class event.

    • Entry deadline is December 31, 2019 – ID#651711420

So, don’t delay as many of the deadlines are not far off (December 29th). If you like Hard Courts Southern California is the place to go; if you like Clay, Florida is your spot. Either way, you’ll enjoy.

Happy Holidays from the NSMTA Team!
