Dear Subscriber First Name, Over the past several years, the 10 point tiebreaker has increasingly been used in lieu of a full third set. The ATP started using this format in doubles play a decade ago and since that time the USTA leagues have adopted that scoring and now many tournaments are either implementing the tiebreaker or are strongly considering it.
Like any change, in tennis or in life, there are strong opinions on both sides. We’ve outlined some of the pros and cons for your consideration.
