2022 Longboat Key Level 2

November 28-December 4, 2022 | Longboat Key Tennis Center, 590 BAY ISLES RD, LONGBOAT KEY, FL, 34228
November 2022 | Ed Wagner

This week kicks off the last Level 2 of the 2022 season. The facility and community are some of the best to host an event. In addition, the weather forecast for daytime highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. NO RAIN!

This year the tournament has a new Director: Michael Young. After 2 days of playing I am hearing lots of favorable comments about how the tournament is being run. The court assignment operations has been great. Match times are on-time or slightly delayed. There’s a court board showing who is playing on what courts and the queue for upcoming matches. The courts are being swept between matches. I’ve seen where a part of the baseline tape was coming up and the LBK tennis staff fixed the line. Overall the courts are in good shape. There is food and drink for the players and guests. For players, there is not cost for the food and a small fee for guests. This includes lunch. At the main 6 courts, there are nice seating areas to view all the matches. Overall this is a flagship tournament experience.

Update December 3, 2022
This was a great event. Great tennis, great location, great weather, great communications, great people, great community support. Overall, I had a great experience. Michael Young did a great job keeping the tournament on track and communicating to the players. I did hear that there was some challenges with the 75s doubles RR due to some withdrawals and some challenges with the USTA tournament software. However, Mike was on top of it and did well to mitigate the challenges.

Congratulations to those that did well. Results are in Court Reports
